When we went to the Jefferson County Library's book sale in Chimacum, I went onto their library. Our Library in PT is a landmark building funded by Andrew Carnegie. It
is special because it is built at the time when libraries had beautiful appointments and you were not encouraged to speak above a whisper. The newer building attached to the original is lively ,bright and well used. The library in Chimacum is
the same, but with more of everything and some extras thrown in . Maybe it is the difference with the staff, but Chimacum was very community friendly. There was a large sign posted on the outside door saying
that WiFi is always available in the parking lot. Inside there are kiosks with all types of books on display . At one "station", there were white butcher paper wrapped 4 book packages that were bow tied for people who just didn't know what they wanted to read.
In the wrapped 4 book package, and you couldn't see what they were, but included a mystery, a fiction , a non fiction and a picture book. You could return the books as you read them. No due date. I thought that was so cool. I spotted a book that I then borrowed.
" Smiling through your tears: Anticipating Grief". I was familiar with the" Seven Stages of Grief", but this book took you through the journey when you are anticipating grief. Reading it brought back memories,mostly good ones. It described different responses people have for anticipating grief. I anticipated grief for many years, so my response might be different than an unexpected loss. Learning about grief seems as
important as having the " conversation" about finances and burial arrangements.
