Dixie ran today ! I saw her run on one of the first days that we came to PT and that was the last time. She never strays from my side which is unfortunate for her, because I have to get a sitter or leave her at day care when
I go some where. And that gets expensive. This first trip to PT when she ran ,could have ended tragically . For some unexplained reason, she felt that she could take herself for a walk. As soon as I realized
that she wasn't attached to me, I got frantic. I ran to the road and saw her a block away, across a street that does get some traffic. I called to her and she immediately turned around, looking so happy. And ran to me. That was a dumb thing for me to do while
I was on the other side of the road . A car could have been coming. But the street was quiet. Lucky for me, because I would never forgive myself if a car hit her. So long story short, we have this little game I play with her every morning when we are returning
from our walk. I encourage her to " run" by saying that I am going to beat her home. She responds by picking up the pace and I trot behind her pretending that I am going to catch her. I know, I know. She's a dog, not a kid, but I do it anyway. and today, she actually got her paws off the ground and she did run. So did I
.What a good girl.Me too.
