ON THE BACK BURNER

Sometimes I feel as if I have accomplished very little in a day and I wonder where did the time go. I think about if I would be doing more if I were in Venice. I know that I would be having more social interaction . But maybe I wouldn't actually be doing "more". I still walk a dog twice a day, rain or shine, heat or cold. That's a given for me. The rest of my days here are different than my days in Venice. . In Venice, I had close friends and acquaintance friends ,my Jewish community and neighbor friends. Here, I revolve around my son, DiL and Grandson's. Except for my Mah Jong games, I haven't made any " tight" friends. There has been no Jewish community since Covid. As it was before Covid, the Jewish community , which is very small, only met once a month ,so I haven't had any time to feel a bond with them. I am committing to a volunteer organization and I feel good about that. So my days are spent almost entirely in and around our compound. I see and visit with most of the kids every day, I bake Challah on Friday's, Family gathering on Sunday, yard sale- ing on Saturday, lunch after yard sale- ing, lunch out with my son when I have to refill the propane tank. And I have a dinner out buddy from my  Mah Jongg group. It's surprising to me that my days seem to fill themselves, even if I think I haven't done much.  I think that must be what feeling content is all about.
