ON THE BACK BURNER

I am reliving my memories of my road trip from Venice to Port Townsend. Later, I will reread my solo road trip from Port Townsend to Venice. I had a great time . I want to do it again. Same cast, different dog. Noodle did fine driving both ways. I remember that we took his neon green crate and he had no problem being in it for the entire trip.Noodle settled down in the van. Dixie ,I don't think  could do that. Dixie never adjusted to the red crate we bought for her. I still have it here, in case I can find someone who wants it. She does have a jump seat that is like a child's car seat. It has a safety belt and attaches to the seat belt. She will stay in it, but tries to get out after a short time. We had a dog named Jake that would curl over our neck as we drove. We never considered that this might be dangerous. He just lay there, around the drivers neck, like one of those neck rests you see people carrying around at the airport. He didn't move. He just lay there for the 4 plus hours it took us to drive from Evanston to our cottage in Michigan. Dixie would be crawling all over me if I didn't have her in her jump seat. I actually can't decide if she is feeling the motion or just that she wants to be as close to me as she can get. Fortunately for both of our safety, when I say No, she settles back down in the seat. I don't know why people laugh when they see her seat in the front passenger seat and there is a dog in it. She is my baby.
