ON THE BACK BURNER

I just made a loaf of bread for my son's sandwiches for next week. it was a new recipe that promised to be the " best one I ever used". After I baked the bread, I couldn't resist trying a slice, still warm, with cherry preserves. I have to say, it is a good recipe. I felt a little bad for my DiL, who planned and organized a memorial today for her late friend . Relatives of the friend came in from out of town and my DiL spent her whole weekend being gracious to them. The last of the people left late in the afternoon and I just knew my DiL  had to be exhausted. I wanted to do something nice for her, so I gave her the loaf of bread, minus one slice. The next best thing  would have been chocolate, but I didn't have any in the house. I'm making another loaf of bread now. I have to make sure that the bread is good, so it only would be right for me to taste  that first slice when it's ready. The preserves are still sitting on the counter.

Don't quite know how this got to me but it was on the top line of my computer (not in email) But I really enjoyed it. I truly admire you.
