I am reading “To Kill a Mockingbird” again. Haven’t read it in years. i was startled to read the “n” word, used a lot in the story. I can’t remember how I reacted to that when I first read the book, or if now it just is so offensive to read. Then I was trying to remember who Dill was based on. I thought about it for a while and then it just popped out of my head, Truman Capote. That was hard work. It’s interesting to reread books after a long period. You know how they end, but now , you can appreciate the details and how Harper Lee puts the story together. I got to be thoughtful because it was a rain day here in Port Townsend. Not that I go any where, but it was the dreary kind of day that keeps you in and let’s you read or clean house. I chose reading.
