ON THE BACK BURNER

Jan. 30

I have been validated for taking afternoon naps. The publication , “General Psychology” says that after 60, naps help with cognitive function. I started earlier than 60 with napping, but that probably means that I am much more “cognitive”. When the kids were young, I napped when they did and we had a house rule that if you didn’t nap, you stayed in your room and were quiet. My naps can be 20 minutes or a sound  hour or more. At a certain time of the day, and I am home, I just get this nap attack feeling. If I am about town or doing an errand, I don’t get this same feeling. Since I have been a professional napper for so long, I recognize the symptoms of this attack. When I am at home, I actually go to bed, but not under the covers. An afghan is enough. Here in Port Townsend, the couch works just fine. The funny thing about my napping ,is that Dixie knows the position that I get in on the couch. I am on my back . She cuddles right against my side, with her head on my stomach. Sometimes I wake up before her and I have to be still so that I don’t wake her. That’s a good time to just be quiet and still. Maybe this is the beginning of mindfulness.

Don't quite know how this got to me but it was on the top line of my computer (not in email) But I really enjoyed it. I truly admire you.

Everything sounds so wonderful Leona. Venice will seem boring . I would want to move to Portownsend where the kids are living. All sounds great . Is there?
