This is probably the most beautiful place that I have been. I don't know what has taken me so long to visit this low country. I saw a brilliant sunrise by just turning my head slightly to the right and this evening, we walked a short bit and came to the end of a sandy path and we saw another gift, a sunset. How can I be so lucky. In between I did what I am really gifted at, I sat on the porch and watched shrimp boats come and go. i am curious about an African American culture called Gulla. I understand that they originated from slaves , who either were set free or ran away and hid here in the marshes and stayed. They have a language and a religion that is still practiced by many of the descendants. I am going to the historical society to find out more. I went to an art gallery this afternoon and saw some wonderful  native art, including grass baskets. I had to be content with buying a calendar by a local artist who graduated from the Chicago Art Museum. I am going to try and frame some of the colorful pages. It might be a small town gallery, but it has down town prices.. justly so.

Everything sounds so wonderful Leona. Venice will seem boring . I would want to move to Portownsend where the kids are living. All sounds great . Is there?
