I had my first fried pickle a few years ago and after saying that eating a fried pickle was the craziest thing that I ever heard of, I really liked them. So much so that I order them when ever I see them on a menu and I have introduced them to other nay sayers.
I am partial to raw oysters but would never eat a snail, not matter what you call it. Just give me the melted garlic butter. I never order blackened anything at a restaurant. You do know that came about in Creole cooking to hide the rancid-ness of the
food? Same with all of the spices. And why would you , when you live where fresh fish is so available and produce can be local. And further more, there are very few restaurants outside of New Orleans that make a really good gumbo that doesn't taste like
it came from a Campbell soup can. Trust me on this one. I judge a restaurant on how they make their hamburgers. If the burger is to my specifications, it's a go. This eliminates a lot of restaurants. And if they do not take my order for a really raw , I mean
rare, burger,I am out the door. And I don't want to sit where I can see the kitchen, unless the kitchen was meant to be seen. What I can't see might be a good thing. Other then all of this, I'm easy with food.
