On Dec. 7th , I was in Israel. I noticed that no one made any mention of Pearl Harbor being attacked, or that this was the day the US declared war on Japan. I never forget this date. I know just where I was when I heard, I know just what I was doing, I know who I was with. I thought that it was interesting that no mention was made of this event, but then I realized that I wasn't reading any papers, my daughter didn't have a TV , so I was in a vacuum. I mentioned the date to my son in law and he hadn't remembered the date , until I asked him. I wonder if other countries think about that date. Maybe now it is just a date in a history book. I was only 10 but I knew it was important and would have some impact on me. I remember rationing, oleo with the little yellow "egg " that had the coloring to make it look like butter.I remember standing in line to get a Hershey Bar and Fleerer's bubble gum. Those were not the good old days, but when you are 10 and your parents are with you, you think they are.

Everything sounds so wonderful Leona. Venice will seem boring . I would want to move to Portownsend where the kids are living. All sounds great . Is there?
